Easy Silhouette Canvas

I shared my new scrap desk here on my blog a while back and if you remember in the photos the wall above it was pretty bare.  Well I finally got around to hanging the Ikea shelves I had gotten back in May and now I’m busy finding and making things to decorate those shelves with.  :)  I thought I’d share this one project with you since it’s super easy and I really like how it turned out.

I got a 12×16 canvas at Joann’s… they’re 40% off this week!  Painted it white and then got to work with my Silhouette.  Every time I use this machine I’m in awe.  I love it!  I’ve had some of the black vinyl for a while now, but never used it.  It’s amazing.  I found 3 different cut files in the Silhouette shop that represented my kiddos well.  Oldest are twin boys, then a girl, then our baby boy. Who’s not really a baby at all anymore, but you know how it goes with the youngest!  ;)  It even had the little boy holding a puppy!  How perfect!  I resized them to fit the right way on the canvas and then cut.  It looked a little bare with just the black on white so I added some Heyday paper on the top and some washi.  Stamped a doily with “you are my sunshine” and viola… done!  I love that I can easily remove the paper and switch it out if another favorite paper comes along.

Now off to find more things to fill up my shelves with!

  4. I love this. Now I just need two more kids… ;)

    • The way some of our days have gone this summer… I may have two to spare. ;) I’m going to start fantasizing that the joyous, angelic looking children on this canvas truly ARE my children to block out the screaming and bickering coming from the other room. sigh.
