Front Row Sneak Peeks! (Studio Calico’s February Kit)

This month I picked up the main kit, Front Row, along with Big Screen, Matinee, and the Project Life kit.  I think my favorite was a tie between Matinee and the PL kit.  The cards in the PL kit are just so cute this month!  I actually used them on one of my 12×12 layouts because I just couldn’t wait until I got around to my monthly PL spread.  :)  This first sneak is from my “main kit only” page:seaturtle2

This page has a couple of those fab cards from the PL kit.  Rocket ship cut with my Cameo:hersheypark2

And this last one gave those black glitter thickers a work out! ;)  LOVE those!agirlandherdog2Happy Thursday!

Thankful for…

so many things!  :)  We have a tradition at my parents’ house of going around the table and sharing our “3 thankfuls” as we enjoy our Thanksgiving feast.  I remember when I was young that it was sometimes sort of hard to come up with three different things to share.  Now I find it hard to list ONLY 3 things.  I am feeling so very blessed.  One of those many things I am thankful for… scrapbooking.  It sounds cheesy perhaps, but this hobby has opened many opportunities and friendships for me and for that I am thankful.  Speaking of scrapbooking, who would like some early sneaks of 34th Street, the SC December kit?! I worked with the main kit, Penn Station, and Kris Kringle (my fave!) I also used many of the digi items in the shop and my beloved Cameo machine.  Seriously…if you are looking for a Christmas gift idea… this would be a fabulous one!

Happy Thanksgiving!

My Three Sons:  I created my title with my Cameo.  Everything else is from the Darling Dear collection.  The veneer and stamp set are especially awesome. ;)

While we wait on Sandy… a quick Sock Hop update!

We’ve battened down the hatches, stocked up on all the essentials and are now just…. waiting.  Not sure if we’ll get worse weather here later today or what.  But I thought I’d post super quick while we have power!  I wanted to share my Sock Hop gallery projects.  I got Penny Loafers and Poodle Skirt add ons.  And the digital items as well…the stamp brushes here are what I used on the wall art project.  My Cameo machine got another good work out this month too!  Here you go:

Sock Hop…take a peek!

i thought this kit reminded me of fall when I first saw images of it… but now that I see what I made with it, it’s really good for any season!  I’ve got three layouts, a decor “print”, and a card to sneak tonight…all made with the SC November Kit, Sock Hop, and the two add ons I chose:  Penny Loafers and Poodle Skirt.

The wall art piece was made from one of the digital brushes this month that I just LOVE.  More on that later possibly…if I can remember how I did it to write up a little how-to!  :)

Roller Rink…a sneak peek

It’s perfect that the October kit at Studio Calico is called Roller Rink.  Why?  Because my family got to experience that fabulous scene just last month.  It was my kids’ first time on real roller skates and let’s just say they were pretty impressed that mom was “so good!” Little do they know that roller skating on Saturdays was a big thing back in the 80s…especially for Brownies outings.  ;)  If you ever are in Topsail Beach, NC…you must check out the roller rink there.  It’s tiny and ancient and just perfect family fun.  Now…on to my sneaks!

I got the Rainbow Kneesocks and Toe Stop add ons this month.  I loved them both and I think these pages are some of my favorites that I’ve done in a long time.  They aren’t complicated or technique-y or anything.  But they feel like me.  Does that make sense? :)

Have a great start to the week!

Central High: SC’s September Kit

Ready for fall?  The main kit especially just makes me feel like fall.  Warm colors, numbers, back to school.  I have to be honest…. I like this kit way more than the projects I made with it.  Does that make sense?  I was in a rush to create with it and I don’t really LOVE my pages this month, but I guess that happens sometimes.  :)  I loved seeing the DT gallery though and soaking in some major inspiration from those ladies!  Here’s what I came up with:

Eight:  This is my main kit only layout for the month.  There are 8 cousins on the Samuels’ side of the family and I love this iphone photo I snapped of them all lined up.  :)  I cut the numbers in the paper apart and then just layered them to make a border.  I  used my Cameo to do the journaling for a fun twist.Supplies:  Central High kitCameo

To the Top:  This page started off looking much different…and then I lost it and got frustrated and got the chevron washi out.  It’s a little busy for my taste, but that washi tape is so cool it makes up for it. ;)  Supplies:  Central High, The Register, Style Guide

Dude You Got Air:  When I saw the little “dude” speech bubble die cut I knew I needed to use it on a page with Connor jumping off the dunes.  I tilted the whole photo block a little for fun.Supplies: Central High, The Register, Style Guide, Stazon ink, Central High digital brush

And that’s it!  I also have a quick card to share… you can read the tutorial on how I created the rainbow watercolor resist (say that five times fast!) on the SC blog here.
