Planetarium! Studio Calico’s May Kit

It’s reveal time at Studio Calico!  Planetarium is up for sale for subscribers now and for non-subscribers at midnight tonight.  I worked with the main Scrapbook Kit, the main Project Life kit, and two add on kits – Big Dipper and Lyra.  I also used the printables and digital stamp brushes as well as my Cameo.

Beach Boys – The layout is my “main kit only” page (plus a printable and a digi stamp brush that I turned into a cut file).  I used the twine that came in the kit to fill in the negative of the rope design for some texture.  The “beach” part of the title is my own handwriting that I converted to a cut file.  You can watch my tutorial for that here.

Three Years – This page uses JUST the Lyra add on kit.  Photos of my son at the same beach three years in a row.  Fun to see how he’s grown!  The anchor is a digi stamp brush that I converted to a cut file.  ”Years” is my own handwriting.

Let’s Go – Lots of hexagons on this page about our geocaching adventure a few weeks ago.

Anna – Maria – This is my newest niece!  :) She’s very sweet and Cate loved holding her.  I love how the gold embellies and letters play off the pastels.  I used a PL card as part of my title.

M & A – I couldn’t resist another layout featuring Anna!  This time with her mama, my sister.  I used a PL card here as well.  The cut quote is from Piglet and Pooh and was spritzed with Dewey Mister Huey’s after being cut.

And with that… my Planetarium is all but used up!  Have a great day!

Studio Calico Spencer’s April Kit

This post to share my kit layouts using the April kit is WAY overdue.  But here they are nonetheless.  :) I used a lot of the digi options this month.  From the diamond template for the Longwood Gardens page to the Stamp Brushes made into cut files (You Float My Boat!)…there are so many options for using these digital elements and they are really a great value.  If you missed out on an add on and stamp you really wanted, give the digital stamp brush a try.  :)

Spencer’s Studio Calico April Kit Sneaks Peeks

Studio Calico’s April kit, called Spencer’s, goes live in just a few days.  There are some big changes this month as far as kit choices go…all three kits (scrapbook, card, and project life) have add ons!  I decided to get just one of the two scrapbook kit add ons (Front Porch Blend) and added the PL kit and the PL add on kit (Latte) to my order as well.  I worried that I would miss the extra kit of 12×12 papers (since I usually always get at least 2 add ons), but it worked out just fine.  I made 5 layouts, used up most of my 12×12 papers for a change, and got to play with the fun PL cards in the PL kit and Latte add-on.  It was fun to switch things up a bit!  I added in lots of items from the Digital Shop and of course used my Cameo.  Here’s a little peek into what I made this month:

Neverland! Studio Calico March Scrapbook Kit

This kit is just so beautiful!  And I love that a couple of the add ons are more boy-friendly.  :)  I got the main kit, Neverland, and the Tink and Hook add ons.    I also used my Silhouette quite a bit, the Neverland Printables, Cut Files, and Digital BrushesMister Huey’s Opaque White, Taxi, Gold, and More Vellum.

This first one is using the main kit only…

I cut out some of the triangles for a fun design on this layout.

I really liked the circle cut files and decided to make a grid with them for a quick layout design.

Just a reminder that subscribers can shop for these kits NOW at presale.  But if you’re not a subscriber, they won’t be available for sale until midnight tonight.  :)  Happy shopping!

Front Row – Studio Calico’s February Kit

I’ve only got a few minutes to post today.  We’re on the last day of a week where there were more days off than days in school.  I’ve promised my kiddos an at home movie afternoon complete with a concession stand and a ticket collector…so they are anxious for me to get off the computer!  Here are my pages using Front Row!  You can read my comments on how I created them and what products I used in my gallery here.  There’s also a bunch of my favorite products listed on that page as well!  Fun new feature at SC. :)

2013 Project Life…ready to go!

I finished up my title page last night.  Well, I almost finished it and then ran out of ink while printing the last photo.  Why does ink always seem to run out at night when you are just moments from finishing up a project?  Or does that only happen to me?  Anyways, after a trip to the store this morning, I slid the last photo into the last pocket and it’s done!  I love the cards form SC’s Project Life kit this month!  I also added in one of the printable 3×4 cards from my Bright Ideas class.  The rest is just photos from our beach vacation last summer.

I used a couple digital brushes on the photos.  The 4×6 has the twenty thirteen brush from this set.  On the kids’ individual shots I decided to incorporate their ages.  So I found pictures that worked with the shape of the number (so their faces weren’t totally covered) and then just sized my number brush to fit over the whole photo.  I set the opacity of the brush so that it looks more like vellum instead of being totally white over the photos.  You could do the same thing with vellum and your Silhouette actually!  I like that it’s subtle but also a fun little element.  It’s  a little hard to see in the photos, but here’s a close up:

And that’s it!  Thanks for stopping by… have you finished your title page yet?  Have you finished 2012 yet?  (I still have the month of December to do!)

Block Party! Studio Calico January Kit

Studio Calico is kicking off 2013 with a bang… the January kit, Block Party!  Not to mention the add ons and the Project Life kit!  I used the Woodbrooke and Wildberry Court add ons.  Have you checked out the new designer galleries yet?  Here are my contributions for the month…

Hello Yellow Belt:  This page is very simple and graphic.  I even used selective coloring on my photo (first time ever!)…ha!  I covered the naked chip letters with the washi tape from the main kit and used Mustard Zing on some others to make the title.  Die cuts are from the printables this month.

Together: This is my favorite page out of the bunch.  I used the same photo over and over in a photo strip to give it more impact.  I like having one of the series in color to make it stand out.  I used a scrap of paper to mask off half of each heart and then used some mister huey’s mists to paint the other half. (Mister Huey’s Audrey, Boss Lady, Pinstripe.)  The title “together” was cut with my Cameo.together1

Happy:  I used one of the digital stamp brushes to put part of the title right on the photo for this page.  The journaling card is from one of the printables.

The Woods:  I cropped down and then tilted the crooked chevron cut pattern to make a diagonal design on my layout (with the Silhouette Cameo.) The naked chip letters are embossed with leaf Zing powder.  I love to find new uses for product and the circle arrow veneer looked like great “o”s to me.  :)  The labels are from the Project Life Kit.thewoods1

Thanks for stopping by!  See you in 2013.  ;)
