Studio Calico Blue Note Sneak Peeks

My top three favorite things about December’s kit, Blue Note?

1.  It has NAVY in it and I love navy.  24december2

2.  The stamps are awesome.  Pick up the digital stamp brushes and you get a huge value for your investment… I love tracing them in Sihouette and cutting them out. (The stamp design below is from the Card kit.)burstingwithjoy2

2.  There’s a touch of holiday for those who want that, and it’s not your traditional red/green color combo.reindeergames2

4.  (Yes, I said top 3, but I’m adding a 4th!)  These rub ons!  I loved using rub on alphas again… it’s been awhile since I had some I really liked!  And these are so pretty.raceforthecure2

My kit order this month was:  Blue Note SB kit, Bennett SB add-on, Sinatra SB add-on, Blue Note PL kit, and Add-on Patterned Paper.  I’ve never ordered the More Patterned Paper kit before… but wow, I may continue doing that from now on.  It was so nice having that extra sheet for the B side and those mistakes you can’t fix.  😉  Kits will be available for sale on the 27th!

Studio Calico Antiquary

It’s time to reveal the October kit at Studio Calico!  This one’s called Antiquary and it really is beautiful.  I worked with the main  Scrapbook Kit, the Project Life kit, and two add ons – Rome and Amsterdam.  I also snagged these PL cards from In A Creative Bubble. They are so cute!

Third Grade:  I gave my Silhouette a work out on this one, creating lots of banners to be descriptive for the photo and also part of the design.  The floral background paper inspired the stitched flower accents.

Wave Riders:  This one uses just the Rome add -on.  I love the beautiful colors in this add on!

Happy Thanksgiving:  I tried out some chalk art on this chalkboard patterned paper and it worked pretty well.  I made a stencil of the “happy” digital stamp brush and another stencil for “thanksgiving” with my Silhouette and then used regular old chalk to fill in the stencil.  To seal it a bit so it didn’t rub off, I traced over everything with a white colored pencil.  Not sure why that worked, but it did!  It doesn’t rub off now!  The wreath is also cut from a trace of a digital stamp brush, as are the pumpkins.

You & Me: Love the vellum die cuts and used several of them here.  And that big tag was great for embellishing and using as a focal point.

Relax: This is just a fun page of a snapshot from our vacation last summer.  I tried to sneak off to read in peace and these two sweet ones found me after just a few minutes.  🙂  But we had a nice time relaxing together then.  I created the title with some Faber-Castell Gelatos.  They act sort of like crayons when you write/draw with them and then when you add a little water they blend together in a really pretty way.  Then I cut the title out and assembled the rest of the page.

And that’s my gallery for October!  Have a great weekend!

Studio Calico’s Double Scoop!

The September kit at SC is live (for subscribers… non subbers can purchase at midnight tonight!)!  I used the main scrapbooking kit, the main Project Life kit, and two scrapbook add ons: Sprinkles and Licorice.  Be sure to check out the other add ons… especially the PL card ones.  I wish I had ordered some of those!

Yorktown:  This is my main kit only  layout this month.  To be honest… I re-did it a couple times and still couldn’t get it quite right.  Sigh.  I love the frame patterned paper though and the colors in that ombre paper I backed them with.   yorktown1 yorktown2

Be True, Be You:  I LOVE the Lindsay Letters stamp in the Cotton Candy Stamp Add On.  It’s just gorgeous!  I used the diamond outline stamp here on various patterned papers to make my own background design.

Boo:  Each time SC offers a Halloween themed add on, I grab it!  I just think Halloween stuff is so fun!  I used the letter cut files with my Silhouette to create the large title and then filled in the “o”s with pics.

Happy Halloween:  Another Halloween page, this time using Catherine’s awesome template.  Love how you just drop your photo in and it looks fabulous!  I added some of the vellum tape and that super fun alpha roller stamp from the PL kit.
